Out of the State of Confusion
I was just watching some NSS videos on YouTube and I started thinking about my early drag racing days...hmm!?! I also started thinking about what my Dad told me when I started seriously considering my first hot car..." BE VERY SURE SON, IT'LL GET IN YOUR BLOOD!" Wow, no kidding!?! Now, forty-some years later and...I'm a junkie! My addiction isn't with any substance abuse but it IS with hot rods, especially Chrysler Corps hot rods! So, how many of you can or are willing to admit, one in the same? How many of you got that warning from your Dads or uncles or somebody else that was close enough to see it in your eyes... hmm?

I've said for years that the difference between dope and drag racing is you can quit dope if you really want to.

Well in this video my niece took the same day but a different pass it does carry the left front wheel a little bit. All the noise is the car in the other lane as I was running through my full exh. Ron

I need to get my blood drained it's filled with Mopar need for speed. Got it from my dad the Mopar stuff.
Why couldn't it be Chevy I wouldn't be so broke trying to go fast.

I've been hooked since I was in Jr-high. No one warned me about the need I'd have. Having to go 1320ft with my hair on fire! It's mostly all I think about. But back in Jr-high when I bought my first car (67 Barracuda fastback), my parents secretly loved the idea. They knew once I had my car, that I wouldn't be able to afford to buy any beer and stuff like that. They were right. Every cent I made went for speed parts. My whole family is Chevy people. Back then, I was the ONLY Mopar guy in our entire family. I still am today- Dodge diesel mega cab, Chrysler 300, and my old girl Murphy, a 68 Dart.
I have two girls BTW. One of them has the racing bug and the other one is getting it. So yes, It's In Your Blood!

Growing up my dad was always wrenching on cars. He didn't race or anything but he always liked a classic. So I guess I can blame him, but then again I did grow up watching the Duke boys. I will say a buddy of mine on our Chump team told me before we did our 1st race quote "Once you do one of these races you'll never want to drag race again" well..he might be right. 1 hour in the seat of the Chump car is more fun than an entire season of drag racing...

Well its still a form of racing thats in our blood. But no racing Chump or what ever will ever be better then one pass down the 1/4 to me. But thats just me as I know not all feel the same as me. My car is not all that fast by todays standards but nothing beats that feeling of launching from a dead stop and being able to keep that pedal on the floor all the way down the track. And its even better if you are neck to neck with another car in the other lane at the stripe. Na to me drag racing is and always will be number one. Course I enjoy other forms of racing just not as much as you cause drag racing is always going to be number one in my blood. Ron

I`m addicted to Muscle no matter what brand BUT, am a Mopar man through and through and will never own or race any other. My new addiction is carb rehab and wet flow studies and even diggin back to the 1900`s when Holley actually knew what the hell they were doing. I love n/a power most as it takes a nut like myself and others who have to turn over every stone bumper to bumper and squeeze out every 3-5 hp here and there to chop away at those et`s............Hi, My name is Dominic and I`m a carboholic...........

that's what I thought to Ron, but going door handle to door handle bumper to bumper and the ocassional trip thru the grass is a lot of fun. It's like back to back to back drag races w/ some turns in between. Best thing is you don't have to wait your turn, and if somebody blows up you just drive slow in that turn/section until the clean it up. After Mopar Day at M/D and MIR the other week, I was seriously considering selling this and building a nice endurance car. Then I saw the blue bottle I have yet to install and decided to give it one more year.

I can "blame" my Dad for just about everything...

He is responsible for me racing dirtbikes, wrenching on and racing muscle cars, riding street bikes, etc. but I may have taken it to the next level in some cases.

After a few seasons of road racing a 3 lb/hp "crotch rocket", drag racing became boring, but I still do it!

I never really did it for the speed, because driving fast in a straight line isn't all that interesting to begin with, and I had driven faster on the street anyway

I do it get the most out of what I have. I almost get more enjoyment out of building than I do racing. Racing is just a means to validate my "improvements" and tuning ability, but I also try to improve myself as a driver.

Faster, Faster until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death...

71 Swinger - slowly collecting dust/parts
66 Belv. II - just a streetcar
88 Mustang - turbo LS beater
