Looking to replace my ignition switch on my 69 Dart. From what I have seen it is a one year part. Does any key tumbler fit this switch? I have a new 68 keyed tumbler will it fit that switch? Thanks!

I remember the B body in 69 was a switch all by itself, the A body was probably the same but I don't know.

The plug (where the key goes in) may be interchangeable from an earlier year.

What is the problem? If it is just a key or no key problem take it to a good automotive locksmith & have it rebuilt or a key made to it.

Go to findalocksmith.com this may help.

if i'm not mistaken, A and B were the same part that year. Classic Industries has them for less than $50.

I just looked and couldn't find them, but I doubt they are available anywhere for less than $50.

IMO, you understand just fine. He is asking about an ignition switch for a '69 Dart and Classic Ind has them for $49.99, just as you said. It is not shown as "discount exempt", so less than that if bought during one of their sales.

I did some research and it looks like no. Different part numbers in the parts books, #2862700 for '68 and #2935906 for '69. Take a look at the pics on ebay, the two seem different to me.

Yes that is the housing, he may also need the cylinder. It depends on what his problem is.

Thanks for all the replies. I have two problems the tumbler is just plain worn out after 175,000 miles. Problem two is when I go from run to start I loose power to all of my electric accessories fuel pump, water pump and will sometimes not even send power to the starter. I assumed the ingnition switch is bad. Any other ideas?

Ok, that is a 69 switch at Classic. For whatever reason their search function SUCKS as it would not show up with any sort of search that I did.

Looks like the cylinder is not available.

well I've searched everywhere and can't find it. it's here somewhere! anyway, if you would like a hand troubleshooting the switch, give a shout out! I could pull the one out of my car if need be but a simple continuity check would really be all you need.
