Were there any differences in the E body door latches during any years or makes?

i.e: Cuda vs. Challenger.

But I think 1970 is 1970 only

Yep, that "feature" is annoying.
I trimmed that extra lever on the driver's side so I can lock my door and close it.

Still have to wait for passenger to get out and close door, then lean over and lock it.
