Been missing my last C body ever since I sold it. So I finally found one I could afford in decent condition. It's a 1970 Dodge Polara, 2 door, 318, column shift. No dents, just some rust issues behind wheel wells in trunk (from bad rear window seal letting water in.) Doors line up perfectly straight, and shut like a dream. Pretty happy with it.

Anyways, ONTO THE CODES. Im not concerned if the the block is numbers matching, I'd just like to know what it is and where it came from. What do I got?

Vin number: DL23G0D184213

Casting code on 318 drivers side: 2536030 318*1

drivers side exhaust manifold: 3614395

Front of engine I cant make out the last part, it look like the last 2 numbers had a double stamp, unsure. I think it says HM318R 37172772

HM318R 37172772

H = 1972 model year
M = Mound Rd. engine plant
318 = 318 cu.in.
R = regular fuel
3717 = Friday October 1 1971 engine assembly date
2772 = engine sequence number

partial VIN will be stamped on passenger side oil pan rail

While you are under the car to check the engine VIN, you can check the transmission VIN as well. It will be on a flat pad on the passenger side of the bell.
