Yeah but those are only the springs. For limiting mechanical advance you also need the keys.

Without the keys you'll have to guess the amount.

hmm, drill bits. Hadn't thought of that!
I did find this thread when doing some research:
link but without accurately sized replacements the information sounded a bit useless. Well, haven't got that kind of precision tooling. I really like your idea though!
Think you've probably just saved me 30 bucks!

The FireCore distributor does come with a spring kit.  From the factory it has 2 medium weight springs installed and approx. 20-22 of mechanical advance dialed in. Run it as-is and set the base timing at 15-16 @ idle and check the total timing. It will be all in by 3000 rpm and you should have ~36-37* total. This works great with the majority of mild pump gas street builds Ron

two articles (the second one desribes re-curving a MP adjustable distributor but the same principle applies). I'm not sure how much advance I'll end up with though.

Alternative would've been the Standard Motor Products LX101 but since the "HiRev 7500" is even cheaper AND seems to work just fine I thought I'd give it a try 
I'm not going to rev the car anywhere near that but I do want my ignition components to work reliably up to 4500 RPM, maybe 5000.
Also had a look at GM Hei ignition, well had one come free with my s/h EFI kit. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work at all. After fitting fuel injection however the ignition remained the waek link in my car. Not surprising really, probably untouched in 30 yrs. The distributor most certainly wanted replacing and since Mopar stopped selling their adjustable range FireCore sounded like a good option. Price was right too! TBH a lot of what MSD et al sell seems to be designed for Chevy with Mopar as an afterthought. And you pay top dollar.
