Anyone know of any 64 or 65 Hemi stock eliminator cars with a stick ? Any pics ? Even the automatic cars are freaking awesome. Mine is a four door but I'm having the hemi scoop put on it and kinda trying to make it look like a Hemi car, with a a good bit of attention being made to keep it nostalgic yet modern. I know it sounds nuts.....and I'd make it a two door if I could find the doors and door posts I need. Thanks for any input.

There is a guy in Colorado with a '64 NASCAR single 4bbl setup. I think his name is Steve Hagberg. It runs very well.

He has a buddy with a '66 Belvedere that runs pretty respectable too.

Not a stick, but Jim Bailey has always had gorgeous cars. Had a '63 Max Wedge before building this NHRA/IHRA legal Hemi car.

Hagbergs car is an auto, it is a really nice car, he has a very good collection of cars. All are mint condition. And it was 5 or 6 years ago that the car was made legal, Im not sure if it was ever legal before that time.

I looked at the photo and its not an A-stock but AA/Stock auto, kinda like the super charged Mustangs and COPO Camaros i guess. I know at one time they were not legal to run, not realy a "stock" car.

If I remember the conversation correctly, some years go Steve was arguing with NHRA over the factory ’64 aluminum/steel nose issue, multiple carb use and what constituted a “stock” car.

Then again, maybe my memory is off and it was another issue entirely.

The Carp Barton / Car has been running in Stock Eliminator for quite a few years. I know for sure since 08.

The A to AA is just a move to find the class where you have the best chance of not running cars in your class that are faster, AA was allmost a empty class a few years back, so it made sense to run there instead of A, if there were several cars in A that you had no chance beating.

Weren't these 4barrel cars titled for street use per Nascar guidelines and the race Hemis 64-65 not, can't remember, also the 68s weren't titled, just bill of sale.

But, there were 70 steel-nosed cross ram Hemi cars built for the street.

*Disclaimer: I know little to nothing about NHRA rules for this class.

Looked at the guys 64 plm and 65 dodge. Dodge has the Hemi scoop and two headlights,a990, the 64 four headlights?and scoop. Something don't jive and the Nascar Hemis didn't have a scoop. I guess after 50 years anything goes.

Right on the scoop issue. The Carp scoop is a handmade metal repop but VERY expensive. Around $800. I agree the scoops and grills should match. In the 80 I was a Hemi wanna be and made a single headlight grill for a max wedge car. NHRA let me race the race I showed up with it but I had to change before the next race. Times have changed. Note the scoops that have been on Larry Hill's car and Jason MaCormick.

And another thing on the single carb Hemi the original carb is a lemons bowl vacuum secondary carb. I have one with list no that matches holleys guide and those guys are running 850 dbl pumpers???? Go figure. When that combo first came legal I was asked to sell the carb but I didn't want to break up the intake and carb combo.

Mr. Hagberg's buddy has the '67 scoop on his '66 too. Yes, how times have changed.
