Any tricks to quieting an electric fuel pump? I'm running an Aeromotive 11253 polished fuel pump mounted to my passenger side framerail and with fairly quiet turbo mufflers this thing is extremely annoying as I'm told by my wife and son lol.

I'm gonna try thick rubber washers between the pump and the frame. Would a rubber-lined aluminum housing around the top of the pump direct the noise toward the ground or would it just cause a heat problem?

I've heard the Mallory140 pumps are very quiet, is this true?

I would do more than just rubber washers, you need to isolate it from the chassis a little better.

A studded rubber mount, stock sway bar end link bushing, something like that ran with a nyloc nut and a little preload will do some decent dampening. Rubber between the pump and mount, assuming it's a band, could help some as well.

Also make sure there is a little rubber line in the system to help isolate the hardline from the pump and vibrating on the frame from the pump to the engine.

Some ideas on mounting, "Versa-Mount Vibration-Damping Mounts" or maybe "
Chemical-Resistant Vibration-Damping Sandwich Mounts"

When mounting the pump to your frame rail, use the same isolaters that MSD uses on their 7AL-3's.
That should tame it down a bit.

My Mallory 140 is fairly quiet. Last test was 112gph through 40 and 10 micron filters@6.5 psi

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Made a huge difference with My Aeromotive Pump.

I was going to suggest the same thing. A thin rubber washer won't do much, if anything. Using those thick/tall MSD mounts ought to do a good job.

How is this for a noisey pump

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb5O8Uy4xy0&list=UUwrndkz6uZ0eFdMoXjKgmEw

The video really makes it worse than it was. We always assumed it was from the camera mount and the way the pump was mounted in the car

My wife said "That just sounds ridiculous" LOL.

Your fuel pump sounds like it could power your rear wheels Al, probably run 10's!

Just watched your video. It sounds just like mine. It's not just the camera. That noise actually transmits through the chassis to the camera mount.

That was a BIG fuel pump. Maybe I should have tried with it that way , sure sounds stout. Besides running 10's would be more fun than bottom 8's NA at 3300lbs gets boring anyway

BTW for those wondering that was the famous Gypsy Mike(of Street Outlaws fame)in the other lane you never saw

I installed a couple of these tonite and it definitely cut out 50% of the pump noise but these mounts are very flimsy, fuel pump easily falls over so I'm gonna have to get another pump mounting bracket and 2 more of these rubber mounts so I can install it towards the top of the pump also, if there is room in there.

I should have tried those jeep mounts I posted but I found these 2 little rubber mounts in my garage so I used them.

I isolated my electric pump in a similar fashion, it cut the dbs down about 20%, the noise was still transmitting through the metal fuel line running up the frame rails. I went with a high capacity mechanical pump and all is good.
