When fitting a 68 kframe in a 64/65 do you use the later idler arm or the correct year model item . The pitman arms , manual steer , appear to be the same . I do have a 68 steering box to use .
I know the motor sets back about 1 1/2" . I presume header choice is not compromised . I am using a Milodon road race pan .
If I do this I will look to fit heim joint strut rods at the same time
Am I missing anything ?

You use what ever is called for on a 68 car.

Unless you are using a motor plate that frame will move the motor in the wrong spot. It will move it forward about 1 1/2 in. Then you will have header fitment problems. Sorry read it wrong. You use 68 parts and 66 and later headers and a modified trans mount.

It will move the motor back about 2 inches. Then if u run a 727 u just have to cut a small piece of the trans tunnel out for clearance. We did it to my dads 63 ply and it worked real nice.

It moves engine back 1 5/8. I used a 70 k frame in my 65 coronet. I then relocated the factory mounts ahead to make tranny xmemeber line up. I did this cuz I used the shumoker hemi mounts to a v8 70 k frame.

We did this swap on a 64 Plymouth about 6 years ago. Use the front end components from the year specific K-frame. The pinch weld in the tunnel will have to be flattened and you will need to use a BFH on the tunnel where the accumulator in the trans will contact the tunnel. Kick-down linkage, if used, can be made to work if you use the one-piece unit. The crossmember can be modified and use the cheaper 66 and later trans mount. 66 & later headers will work and a 66 and later oil pan will fit. Will post pics.

Trans mount. I mocked up a block and trans case in the car to get the correct position of the pocket for the mount.

I have a 67 K frame in my 65 -

I have 66 up headers and a scatter shield - the clutch linkage is a perfect line up - goes right through the header opening.

My 6 cylinder b body 65 Z bar is a close fit as well.

I gutted a stock 65 trans cross member and have tacked in a trans mount out of a diplomat - I cut the metal out of the dippy trans mount and its a near perfect fit for the 65 cross member. I might have pics.

When I went to replace and or check the pitman and idler arms - Napa listed the same part numbers for 65 and 67.
Maybe they ahve it incorrect - but I would use the same years.
Both of mine are early B body
