I have a 70 727 that has 4 clutch plates. It was behind a 440 HP. What is the clearance spec?
Thanks!

It's a flex band, 3.8 lever, and 10 springs.

The 70 FSM front clutch chart is showing clearance value of .066 to .123 for the 440 HP 727 with 10 springs... with that being said I was told to shoot for around {+ or -}.010 for each clutch disc... Interestingly FWIW a NON HP 440 4 clutch unit with 6 springs is only calling for between .024 to .125...

A lot of builders use the .012"-.015" per disc rule. That would but a 4-disc clutch in the .048"-.060" range.

What does the band type and lever ratio have to do with the front clutch pack clearance ?

Clutch & band timing to prevent shift overlap without a restrictor in the apply passage...
