Anyone know of a cam install tool specific to big block mopars?

I'd prefer not to buy a $150 tool that works on a all engines as I dont work on anything else but B engines.

I suppose I could make one but dont have lathe access

I used to care but....... things have changed

Just use a really long bolt (or bolts if it's a 3 bolt).

No need for an expensive tool. All you need is a good hold to guide the cam so it doesn't ding the bearings.

There ya go, I fixed it for ya.

Since most of the time I am gonna have machine work done to the block, even a clean and check at a minimum I usually just have the machine shop knock them in for me. Minimal expense in my view, of course I do double check their alignment when they are done.

I used one of those rubber expanding freeze plugs to replace the forward-most cam bearing on my 440. Worked great.

Yep, there are limited quantities. When I ordered one it said 11 left. Once that special is gone, that's it.

I got one of those Lisle cam bearing tool in a E bay deal years ago with several other tools that I was after.

I already had a snap on cam bearing driver from years earlier. The lisle tool looks almost exact to the snap on tool except it had rubber sleeves around the expanders and the snap on has multiple rubber o rings around it's expander.
The snap on tool was a much better easier tool to use and after 25 years of use the o rings are still good and have never given me problems or wore out.
I see Lisle provides extra rubber sleeve for each adapter and I know why, they wear out and are damaged pretty easy. I didn't like them because the seemed to swell up from oil use also. They are too easy to get slid out of place. I re sold the lisle tool.

Not saying it's a bad tool but there is difference and the snap on tool is much nicer to use. And I'm not even sure it's a "snap on" tool, I just got it from the snap on guy a long time ago.

I'll see if I can get a picture of the snap on expanders with the o rings.
