I'm totally shocked that no one has responded to the PID race at Pittsburgh.
I'll start..... Friday (T&T night), was a total waste of time and money. Oil downs, break downs and getting 3 runs in before they closed the track after yet another oil down.
Saturday and Sunday (race days), I felt that there was a real nice turn out. Great looking and running cars. Lots of people. As far as performance, for me, I had issues all weekend with traction. Left lane I would blow the tires off. Same set up on the right lane and the car would bog. I couldn't get a happy medium. The car ran very good considering my driving downfalls. I managed to break out and loose in round one Saturday night, but did hit my very first 10 and over 124 mph. Sunday I backed it up with an 11 flat. Comparing time slips, the 11 would have been another 10 if not for a very poor 60' time. All in all I thought the track prep was marginal at best after being used to above average starting line prep in the past. The event I thought went very well. If not for break downs, everything moved along fairly smooth.

Larry,
We were there Sat. it was a great turn out with lots of street rods, gassers, vintage dragsters and funny cars. They had no class for the blower car so Donny and I just spectated.AJ,Britt,McCellands and Kevin Grassen and others made quite a showing.Great weekend, sorry we missed Sunday. We saw your and Jr's passes Saturday, look great.

Kevin,we checked with PRP so we didn't bring the blower car, instead we brought the "Wife Trouble" Corvette and had it on display by the tower.Congradulations on your win.

I knew and expected Fridays test n tune to be a cluster with that many cars but I wanted to get parked and for 25 dollars I'll take the three passes that were available. PRP can not be held accountable for cars blowing up and lack of maintenance on cars. I never in my life saw or expected to see that much damage. Now as far as traction, if you had issues I would suggest climbing under YOUR car and working on your suspension. I made it down to 3 cars Saturday and my 60 foot times were very consistent. For some reason I hear this issue coming from the 4 speed class almost every year but see guys yanking the front tires higher than I would ever allow one of my cars to go. My son even drove a stocker on Sunday for a Friend and it was leaving REAL hard. I know one thing, I had a great time. Oh and the Duster ran a "new best" of 9.91@131mph on the last pass Friday night.

I've been doing this for a number of years and know that the track, any track, can't control break downs. I'm just stating my thoughts and experiences. As far as my traction issues, I was under my car several times. I've been racing at PRP/Keystone, for a very long time. I brag to fellow racers about the starting line traction and how good it was. This is the first time I had problems. Here's another thing to remember. I don't have an exotic race suspension. SS springs with Rancho's is all. It works at other marginal tracks, but didn't work at what I considered my home track. The 4 speed cars that are pulling the front end high in the air, are using high end rear suspensions. Again, I didn't start this post to bash PRP. I was curious as to other peoples impressions and experiences. I had a good time, and will be there next year.

I think sometimes it comes down to something as simple as what class you run after. I have a very close Friends that I tried for months getting him to hold back jumping up in line. As soon as they called a class his starter was engaged. FINALLY last year he waited till several cars were lined up in front of him. Never many but a few groups. his 60 foot times closed the gaps and he started going rounds. well guess what???? He went back to his old ways this year and is frustrated to the point he's said he needs a BREAK from racing. Street tires, radials, and slicks don't always take the same track prep so I always drag my feet when heading to the lanes as I run slicks and want their rubber laid down and the water gone that "street tires" drag to the starting line.

I had a great time, showed up Friday about 4pm got a pit spot, watched all the cars come in for TT.I hadn't been there in 2yrs. I was in the first pair of cars down the track at 7pm. car hooked good, track smooth, brought the car back put it in the trailer and left by 8pm. I listened to the horror stories of oil downs, etc the next am.
I thought the track prep was good all weekend, my only real complaint was they go out 4 decimal places on ET and RT. Makes breaking out by .0005 first round hurt worst. I was lucky enough to make it to the final in No Box Sunday and get gas $$ for the ride home.

I had a great time. The car hooked well all weekend, but I think it would on a skating rink since going to ladder bars. However, I seem to have a real mental deficiency. I kept forgetting to raise the launch rpms. One pass, a 10.05, then later a 10.18. No spin...dead hook and bog. Won money two days and raced for free. I was happy, happy idiot I guess

The 422allstars webpage will have their photos posted soon (they are already on facebook), but Luke Ellis on facebook posted over 100 photos of the event.

BG - wish I knew you were there. Would have stopped by to say hello. We were pitted next to Ronnie and Steve near the finish line. We clinched our third NSS championship there. Thanks for your support over the years.

I was kidnaped and taken to Ronnie's camp. They treated me to some great food and after some friendly abuse then released me.Sorry we didn't see you when I was there.BGR will always be there for you and your dad, both first class, quality friends and racers.

I had fun. Drove the car to the track no problem. Ran it ok. Not great. Keep having problems getting into 4th.
Then I popped a hub key and it got stuck in 3rd gear coming down the return road. Had to borrow my dad's trailer to get the car back home.

Now it's apart and getting faceplated 3/4. I'm done messing around with 4th gear.

Won a case of Kendall oil from the UMTR guys. So that's cool.

It wouldn't be a complete weekend unless we got to freindly abuse Brother Bob for a while.

It was a fantastic event, as far as I'm concerned. Out of the 35 cars that made the first round of the 422 All Stars, 22 of them were Dodges or Plymouths. Rich LaMont said that there must be a Chrysler factory around here somewhere...

Everyone ran pretty wheel. I was even pleased with myself, for a bald, round old man. Great to see Joe Mizzia out there among us in the BGR Plymouth, Chasity Kwast, and so many familiar names from the past. Pitting next to Jon, Kevin, and Morgan was great, too. Weather good....can't wait to do it again.

Big crowds, lotsa cars, good people. If folks are into Nostalgia racing, the PRP deal in the fall is about as good as it gets.

Doing a complete piece on it for the next issue of CP.

Larry Sr, I never expected Friday night to be that huge. Wow. Last year, PRP did test and tune on Friday, and it was an ok sized crowd, from what I can remember. I knew when I came up at 6:20 on Friday and the line was down to the old motocross entrance, things were going to be busy. I'm willing to bet that is another lesson learned for next year, the same way the largest complaint from 2013 was getting in the gates on Saturday, which was handled well for 2014. I was working in the water box for Friday night. That newer Vette that oiled the left side, ugh... he literally blew the rear end apart... chunks on the track, and drove it the entire length of the track, leaving a trail gear fluid the whole way. Then someone did it at the end on the right lane side.

I was wondering if that was your first 10 second pass. Congrats!

Greg, I was wondering why you were running off. That would explain it. I think it's awesome you make the tow down from Noo Hampshah.

Jim, congrats on running strong all weekend. I agree about the AMX's. Loved all of them, have long lusted over Adkins and Chipps cars.

Kevin, congrats on the championship. I haven't see the 422 guys run in over 15 years, back when I would go see the NMCA. A lot of beautiful cars of all types in the group, and Dink was super nice to talk with.

Larry Jr, I really really like your Dart, nice clean looks, great build.

I'll try to remember to post some Facebook links for pics, and at least one that should be open to all.
