Just Scored a 5.9 Magnum out of a 98 Ram 1500. plan on doing the Carb conversion. Going to run the stock bottom end and stock heads along with the 5.9 Roller Whiplash from Hughes. In keeping with the stock heads what intake would you guys recommend and also what size carb would be best? It is going in a 1977 Shorty Stepside

Edelbrock RPM Air Gap (for the magnum heads) & 650-750 CFM 4bbl Holley should pull plenty of air into that 5.9

Spend the extra $$$ if you want
Gasket match this, flow more & fit better

I used this intake on a stock Magnum with a 650 spreadbore double pumper on my CrewCab & could light the tires easily 33's with 4.11's

Really it all depends on what front that you go with LA or Magnum
The Edelbrock fits best with the Magnum front
The Crosswinds fits best with the LA front

I own & use both of them

Thanks for the input. Looks like an Airgap of some type is the logical choice. Carb I'm still undecided on which size to go with.

750 Street Demon should be a really good fit on that engine.

One of the Holley 750 vac secondary carbs would also be in the running, like 80508 or 3310.

It's maiden voyage without any real tweaking on the carb (12 hrs after I fired it up & bled the brakes)was a 1800 mile trek with 6 in the cab.
It got 16 mpg towing my 1987 Grand National back home

6 months later I did a 600 Holley for it, put a 31" A/T tire took off the FlowMaster & put a new CTD muffler for a 2008 model & squeezed 19-20 MPG hwy @ 70 MPH

My CrewCab has a 518 trans & I was switching it by the reading on the speedo

It has never been weak but the tire smoking changed with the smaller carb

I have over 65K on it since the swap & I'm getting ready to put a RC floor & newer firewall in it now
