Was'nt a tremendous amt of SB Mopar stuff there but was able to find some decent new additions.....

Just some misc observations I saw that were pretty neat:

www.kennyscomponents.com Had carbon fiber SB Mopar valve covers in 2 different forms, a low rise & a tall design for more rocker clearance.... pricing was very reasonable, under $600 a set. They should fit any SB head other than a W8.... I'm gonna eventually get a set for my car at that price. Have real nice integrated valve cover gasket deal on them.....

Place called Race Pumps.... (no website) 336-476-9720 out of NC has a new SB Mopar all billet aluminum piston rod style mechanical fuel pump.... really slick little pump, comes with AN inlet & outlet. About $320 a pop, think I'm gonna try one on one of our circle track motors this upcoming season.

Talked to an Engineer at KB pistons..... should be coming out with an off shelf strutted skirt design for the forged 4" crank stuff this year, also the strutted skirt stuff will be running 2.5" pin & will be coming with gas porting. He was'nt sure whether they were gonna do vertical or lateral gas porting, although most of brand X stuff they have started to offer had lateral.. so I'd expect it to be a lateral port. Offering an off the shelf gas ported strutted skirt 4" crank piston will certainly make me start running some KB's in the future. Also he said they are probably going to do a domed 4" piston that will work with any current 18* head config including Edelbrocks & INDY's. Right now Ross is the only one who has an off shelf 4" dome piston, so will be good to have another out there.....

Talked to one of the owners of Lentz connecting rods...... He said they got stuck with $60K in SB 300M rod forgings & they are doing a special on them to get rid of the forgings. All the cup teams are aparently going back to 4340..... They can do any size up to 6.50" length, 2.125", 2.10, 2.0 or smaller big ends. Pin end any size you want... basically custom billet I beams.... with their std bolt, prices in the $1350 range which are about where Manley & Crowers (4340's)are currently at.... So that's heck of a deal for a 300M custom billet I beam.

Davies Craig out of Australia had some really neat in radiator hose phenolic electric water pumps there.... http://www.daviescraig.com.au/main/display.asp

Way lighter than a Stewart or a Mezziere.... Price is really good, & AMP draw was very minimal. Also have a variable temp electric thermal controller as well that can be run with it to act as a varible temp thermostat.... never seen them before, & look to be very nice piece.

K1 confirmed they do have 4.125" Cranks in stock, 340 & 360 main, 2.0" pins.

www.buxtonengineering.com Had real nice adjustable on motor valve spring tester & compressors on display. Think I'm gonna have to get one of them for dyno use.

INDY & RHS both had their new cast iron "X" heads on display, looked like good piece. Price is right as well... Looks like good piece to compete with Edelbrocks for those that can live with iron heads. Russ told me they are also going to come out with a universal top standard intake bolt pattern manifold for those heads (would also fit any std head, or Edelbrock etc) Since they don't currently offer an intake that fits the X head....They had the new Universal top Hemi intake on display..... The SB one is'nt finished yet.

That's about it.... Got to see the Newen seat & guide machines in action & slober on them for an hour or so. The model I wnted that runs coolant & can ream the guides & cut the seat all at once is $100K..., the base model starts at $80K..... Don't see e getting one of those anytime soon but can always dream. I got to make my own seat CNC program on the one machine.... About minute & 1/2 I had 5 angle seat designed & stored into memory, ready to cut a seat. Technology is a wonderful thing....

Also got to fondle a $12,000 Kellogg billet crank & laugh at the ridiculousness of a $12,000 4340 crank price. $12K for a very basic looking crank....not even a 300M.... If you order 5 at a time they go down to $8K per piece, what a bargain. Now I know why he said they don't sell many billet cranks.....

Us SB Mopar guys always get left behind on the new products schedule, but looks like we'll at least be getting a few new pieces in 2009 to play with.

ryan,, you can try to call maskin at dart,, he bought a few of those newen machines purposely so he could ream guides and then cut the seat at the same time. it didnt work out, they broke too often and coudnt cut seats round while reaming the guide,, or something,, i know richard took them to court over the deal since he replaced them all with serdis,, he may have one or two that you need to repair and get for a better deal.

The reaming deal looked good except the pilot gets a little spindly because it is a reamer essentially....you're losing the strength at the flutes, compared to the solid pilot. It obviously runs as a live pilot after it reams. Probably be best to ream, then install the pilot & cut seat with the pilot but for production work where you're trying to knock stuff out like DART was I can see where it would be handy to finish the guide & cut seat all in one.

So let me see if I got this straight.

Not one, but TWO companies are coming out with !!!IRON JUNK!!!, but nobody can re-release the best inline valve, dragrace, MOPAR head ever, a W-8.

Man, if this isn't typical MOPAR crap, I don't know what is.

Did ya notice any stock "wingnuts" coming to market???

I got some brand Xs I need to spank. I'm sure they'll be shaking if they find out I can score a new wingnut for a 74' 360!!!

I notice Edelbrock has some new LS heads for chevy that flow 450+. What a joke.

W8's have never been a rarity except blank ones with no spark plug holes...

There are plenty of race blocks in the system, I talked to Jim S about that for a while on Saturday. Also the W2 stuff will be released again soon, the old foundry went bankrupt & all new tooling had to be made for the new W2s. Don't hold your breath the Mag RT ever gets re-released.

Hey Ryan, is there any talk about the W-5's ever going to get re released?

I don't know why anyone would be complaining about W8 heads not being available new. There have been three different engines on Moparts for sale. Two had drag race porting and valves. They are still for sale and very reasonable.

I noticed a couple things myself. CFE had a W8 head on display although it was circle track porting. Saw where a couple different people had there version of a Harland Sharp rocker arm for a small block.

Big block guys along with those who like Fords and Chevies love to hear small block Mopar guys cry. Yet the used market still sucks if you own a small block Mopar. Can't give your crap away.

I have had two sets of Lentz rods---great rods and good people to work with. I would put their rods alongside Carillo anytime! They are just not well known outside Nascar.

You ever flowed or done port work on the RHS heads? If yes what do you think of them?

What did you think of the RHS heads compared to factory magnums and R/Ts...

Have you ever flowed or ported a set?

David
