WOW,pulled a few wheels off junk(salvage)yard cars in my day and never thought nuts were the same,always looked like steering wheel nut was fine thread?just another reason to be on moparts for the info.

Sorry for the confusion. Here in the UK we refer to bolt sizes as UNF or UNC whereas you Americans tend to use the thread pitch. We say 1/2" UNF and you say 1/2" 20. Also you never hear the term lug nuts in the UK, we call them wheel nuts. So what I meant to say was, if you are looking for a nut for the steering wheel you can use a lug nut, just cut or turn the tapered part off.

Hmmm. Two people separated by a common language! LOL! I would not want to use a "wheel" nut or a lug nut. The proper nut for the steering wheel nut is a self locking nut and a lug nut is not.
