Is it the inlet/outlet end of the AAR mufflers that are unpainted, or the other end?

Originals show that the inlet / outlet end was pointed down when they were sprayed, the back & sides should be all black.

Realizing these are NOS (dated 1975) and not assembly line this is how I think they should look. PIC was saved from an eBay listing years ago. I have a set of NOS TA/AAR mufflers with the same 1975 date that look identical. As far as I know another run of NOS muffles in 1979 did not have the black paint and had a smaller penatstar.

Probably more detail than you wanted though...

I installed a set I bought from Mopar date coded 1975. They had no paint on them. Must have been done to the originals on the assembly line.

Have an original car with 6,000 miles and they are painted black on the sides as in the e-bay pics. Front and back were bare, some overspray.
