Anyone have success doing this? All the vinyl is good, and the plastic moisture shields were in place, but 50 years takes it's toll. I saw someone get theirs damp and park their SUV on it overnight. Was thinking something along the lines of that--getting them damp, and placing a flat surface and weight on top. Not a vehicle, though.

You try that? How did they turn out?

I had great success fixing warped panels by getting them good and damp with a spray bottle and then laying them out on a flat surface (I think I used a towel on a glass sheet (spare window for storm door) which was on a stout table and used flat paver stones to apply even pressure.

Let them dry, in the sun is best and in a few hours presto! If you can a few days is better to make sure they are all dried out.

Not right? Just hit them again. I think I may have even used some aluminum sheet as shims in a few spots to get the panels to go in the direction I wanted.

I used hot glue to secure the vinyl after working out any wrinkles with a heat gun. Just gently pull the vinyl and then apply the glue on the backside. Your fingers will get warm!

Panels looked like new after I was done, very rewarding.

I've tried a hair dryer on vinyl - and the pattern disappeared. Use caution with heat around the vinyl.

Getting the panels soaking wet ??? Hmm, I have a panel that got soaked - the fiberboard delaminated on every corner. But it wasn't sandwiched between any other panels.

I don't have the solution to flattening the panels but I think I'm going to pull the vinyl off the existing board, make a new board and glue the vinyl back to it.
