I have a small leak at the rear of my motor. It's a new build with an Indy Maxx Block. My question is: Does the Indy block take a standard main seal, or am I supposed to buy an special seal from Indy. The seal and side o-rings seamed to go in perfectly. Any help/special tricks would be very much appreciated.

It takes a std. rear seal. I take a fine file and round the corners of the block slightly so it will not knick or shave the o-ring matl. A dab of silicone on the parting lines and you should be good.

Are you using a vacuum pump?

Thanks for the reply. This is pretty much how I did it, except for rounding the corners. I'll try that when I replace the seal

No vacuum pump yet. I have the pan evac through the headers. It worked well with my other engine(which was the same ci., cam, and comp ratio).

i gave up on the "O" ring chord that seals the sides on mine. i found that the "O" ring chord was shrinking back over time since it gets stretched when installing. 3Bond the base & sides & it's been leak free everytime now.

I've never used any type of o-ring on the rear main.. Didn't know they even had one..

Always used "Right Stuff" and the red Fel Pro seal and called it good.

Chris..
