With all the talk of non Mopar racing engines and Mopar not having any real parts for the big leagues, I was wondering if a new class would work for us.
Take any car you want do want you want to it from the suspension to the transmission. Add any power adder you want to use for different categories. But you must use a OEM block and heads.
Fill the engine with what you want parts wise.
Does this category already exist?
Matt.

Lol same as what Monty races in, but OEM block and heads.
Soon that style of racing will be billet block and heads.
It will turn into a Nascar thing. One off everything.
It would be nice to see something that resembles a factory offering.
Is it viable? Or am I out in left field?
Matt

I would think that having to use factory blocks and heads it would turn into another high dollar effort given the extreme modifications that would need to be done to make that stuff work.

Just look at the 10.5 stuff and how it progressed. It was meant to be a limiting factor but instead it turned into a lot of high tech, expensive stuff in order to get traction.

First nobody will run it, then put a decent payout and the cars will come. Then the little guy the class was made for won't have enough money to compete. Unfortunately rules = big money.

Its not like the old days where you needed to make your own stuff, now all you need is money and the internet to find the place to spend it.

That kind of a class sounds appealing to me. Could you not put a bunch of limits on modifications that would keep the $ down? Have a spec suspension everyone must use (4 link), stock front suspension, limit blower/turbo size, and a certain lbs/cu in. Port the heads as much as u want. Would that help keep $'s down? Or where does the $$$ dollar output come from

would end up stupid expensive in a hurry.
as for engines used,it would probably be a class for Hemi´s rectangularport bigblock chevys (might even derail into a L88/ZL1 class) a bunch of cobrajet 429/460 fords and 4barrel clevelands also some LSstuff. and then the moparcrowd will start bitching about the cost of HEMI´s and how the bigblock Wedge and the smallblock mopar is at a dissadvantage and everything is to expensive
