It doesn't hurt to be jetted a little rich, either. Running the slightest bit lean, and "on the bottle" will kill an engine quick! Trust me , I know. O.G.

Hooker makes one, and from what I understand, be aware that clifford's headers don't always fit what they are supposed to...Both are expensive. If I were to buy one, it would be a hooker. Intakes are still made by Offenhauser, and ya can find used ones on ebay....also I bought slant six header flanges on ebay...great quality stuff for the $ !! If ya don't want to go the 4bbl route a 2bbl carter and factory super six(2bbl) intake work well with a 2 1/4 exaust and elec. ign. Good economy too! If ya go this route, try to find a cast iorn intake, the aluminum versions are prone to leak!..also check out www.slantsix.org O.G.

The carb of the week (LOL) is a Carter bbd 2bbl....I made an adapter for a Rochester 2gc a few weeks ago, and it ran really good, but the mileage really suffered. Back to the 'ol super six carb for now....lookin for another offy or clifford manifold. I have a brand new Edelbrock 500 cfm 4bbl. I hear they do good mileage wise. As far as needin a choke, I found out it has more to do with fuel drainin off....bad needle an' seat....duhhh...starts fine w/ no choke now! O.G.

Wow Pokey, those are goin for around 150-200 on ebay with no carb or adapter!....if it has really long runners, it could be an original hyper-pack one....or a clifford/Dutra copy....offy has basic shape of factory man. Great about the cowl hood too! As for the edelbrock bein adapted to the stock 2bbl manifold, it might work, but not nearly as well as it could. O.G.

Is the throttle shaft loose?....good luck gettin it tuned if it is...I looked at a BUNCH of em before I found a good core....if it isn't loose, try the $1.98 tune up. ...bring it up to about 2500 rpm and close the choke, till it almost dies, then open it back up....this will clear most any crud out of passages that may be clogged....(Super high vaccuum)...has worked wonders many times after a carb rebuild....also make sure the accelerator pump/ metering rod setting is correct. Also float level, of course. O.G.
