What's the best way to drain a 66 B-dody gas tank, still in the car? Siphoning it looks complicated cause of the strange filler neck, anyone tried it? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If it hasn't got a plug then siphoning is the only other choice.

Let me rephrase my question. Is it possible, with the multiple bend filler neck, to siphon gas out of a 66 B-body tank. Or is it just best to drop the tank, remove the pickup and pour the gas out? Thanks.

Yes you can siphon those. Now, why do you want to empty it? Storage?, or does it need cleaning? If it needs flushing, then remove it, but the upper vent line is a b%%%tch.

Disconnect the fuel line and run it into a can. Take a blow gun and using compressed air, pressurize the tank through the filler neck. You can even run the siphon hose into the filler neck, but its easier to drain further down the fuel line

you could put a T in the pump to carb line & run it out to a barrell as the eng idles.

If its the same as my '67, which it should be, it takes less than a half hour to remove the tank completely. I pulled mine & had a new one in and completely buttoned up in a couple hours. There should be only one strap, dissconnect the fuel and breather lines (which are pretty much standard hose couplings), and remove the fuel line from the sending unit. bam, it falls out.

Yes it is pretty easy.....with the exception of the filler tube. All the above to remove. And BTW this is what should be done to clean out....pull it. When reinstalling the filler tube is a PITA. It's blind as you install. Get a new grommet for good sealing. Take your time....but it should be done this way. JMHO
