My roadrunner has a factory style TTI exhaust system with stock manifolds and an H pipe. It drones bad. What has anyone used for resonators that took the drone away? Has anyone used cherry bombs that worked?

Yep. Any cheap glass pack or bullet behind the axle will significantly reduce the drone.

Master, again and still

Depending on your pipe diameter look at the newer chargers that have the hemi. They have a resonator in the tailpupe that has worked good for me and you can pick them up cheap.I have several from cop car chargers and may put a couple on my Lincoln Town car(don't laugh)when I do the exhaust if it is too loud.
A glass pack is cheap and readily available but if you can see it all the factory stuff looks so much better IMO.

What mufflers are you running? I had 1 7/8 TTI Headers, 3" H-Pipe System with their Dynomax mufflers and it sounded great with no drone what so ever...........

exhaust drone is typically caused by poor engine tuning.

I've used Dynomax bullet style race mufflers as well as other non-name brands. Both killed the drone for me.

please explain ? i was always under the impression it was rpm related due to sound waves[amplitude ?].

Exhaust "drone" is a resonance of sound waves,
and is very much like a flute or pipe organ in a church.

You should try to avoid tailpipe lengths in the 58 to 72 inch range. If you buy some flexible exhaust pipe you can attach it to your present tailpipe and find out for yourself how much it needs to be lengthened to avoid drone at your combination of throttle opening and RPM. It is also possible to shorten the tailpipe with side exits.

If you cannot avoid the 58 to 72 length put a resonator in the middle and small muffler at the exit.

Another factor is the temperature of your exhaust gas,
which varies with
throttle opening,
type of fuel and ratio,
and the presence of catalytic converters and mufflers.

Technically, where your combo drones depends on
"the speed of sound" in your exhaust gas,
which varies a bit with temperature.

You can demonstrate this by driving up a steep hill to get more throttle opening at the same speed and rpm as where you get drone on a level highway. Or simply downshift to a lower gear and then slow to the same RPM.

Since the air-to-fuel ratio of the engine affects exhaust temperature, the state of tune of an engine will affect the RPM and throttle opening at which drone is heard.

IIRC there is at least one car maker using the stereo to cancel out exhaust noise ( maybe Honda/Acura?)
like Boise pioneered with its electronic active sound cancelling headphones.

Moparts has had past posts from more than 2 years ago where car owners installed "stubs" of closed ended exhaust pipe of just the right length to cancel drone noise of a particular sound frequency.

The free software program "Audacity" can tell you the frequency of your drone sound.
