I have a good working 727 from a 1977 318 van including converter and flexplate. I found a 95 Dakota with a 318 and a bad tranny for a good price. Will it bolt up and work? Will the engine still run with the trans connectors unhooked. I know it will need a driveshaft modification and maybe a tranny mount adjustment. Possibly have to get a new shifter. I dont care if the speedo works. Anyone done this? Any input helps. Thanks guys!

you will need to make/grind an opening for the crank sensor in the bellhousing.

The computer will be fine, may set a CEL but it will still work just fine. You could probably plug in the old solenoids outside the trans and it will keep the light off just zip tie them out of the way. If it is a 4x4 it is a whole other story. I will be in Seattle on the 26th 27th 28th and could build you an a-500 or 518 for cheap that bolts right in then bring it to you, pm me if your interested.
