Can somone explain the importance and mechanics, hydro-dynamics or whatever of stall speed, and how the number and pitch of the vanes affect it?

Please also explain the reasons and differences of street vs race torque convertors.

The basics, or "Convertors For Dummies"... I think I have a three- fingered grasp on the most basic principals, but really want a more complete understanding.
