Over the past several races, I've noticed that my engine starts to, or actually, shuts down after I go through the traps and push the clutch in or throw it into neutral. I've checked the float levels, adjusted the idle up a bit, adjusted the idle mixture screws 1/8th turn richer, all having the same result. I'm thinking it's a carb adjust of some sort because I have a six pac hood scoop (ram air affect) and I've noticed absolutely no decrease in performance. Fuel pressure, buy the way is 6 psi + at the traps. This past weekend I was at Thompson for a UMTR race. All day long the car did 1.5 60' times, with 11.20's @ 121+ MPH. No issues other than the engine wanting to shut down after the traps. Any suggestions????????
Thanks for any help.

good fuel supply through the traps....??....ignition coil possibly breaking down on you after long, high rpm's??

Do you have the carb sealed to the hood scoop? Its happened to me and walking thru the pits I will see gas droplets on the windshield of cars. What sometimes happens if the vent tubes are in the wrong area the air coming in the scoop will actually suck fuel from the bowls out the vent tubes. Sometimes a rubber hose connecting the vent tubes with a slice taken out of it will help this condition. Sealing the carb to the hood makes a BIG performance gain in Matts Duster with the 6 pak hood scoop.

For the past several races, come to think of it, I didn't have the carb sealed to the hood. I wanted to see if there was any power loss, or gain. So far I have noticed the car being more consistent and faster with the carb not sealed, but rethinking, this about the same time I removed the carb seal. You might have something there. Thanks.

Just to add something to this Matt had to re-jet after sealing his scoop to the hood to get the benefits from it.

I guessing I'll have to jet up, even though I haven't changed any of the internals of the carb. We'll see... My next race will be the end of September at PRP. I'll do the Friday T&T and Saturday/Sunday UMTR races to finish out my season.
