I changed the rear end in my charger and now the speedometer is way off. Has any ever used Rowand Speedometer Co. to build an ratio adapter to install between the transmission and speedometer cable. You tell them a few speeds that your speedometer is reading when the car is at a known speed and they will build a little adapter with a gear ratio'ed to correct the problem. Sounds like a good idea but they want $100 bucks for the part. How much is a new gear for the speedometer and how easy/time consuming is it to change?
Thanks,
Jason

If you have an automatic you can change the speedometer cable driven gear for a lot less money. If you have a standard I don't know how that works.

I have an automatic. Do you know where I can purchase a new speedometer gear and how easy is it to install?

Google bulkparts, they sell transmission parts and I'm pretty sure they carry them. Relacement is easy, you'll have to get a pan under the speedodrive to catch the oil. Make sure you line up the tooth count number with the little arrow on the case. Replace the old o-ring also. Top up the trany oil.

jack the car up on the drivers side, you'll loose less fluid that way. for a correct selection put a bar of flat stock on top of one of your rear tires & measure the height to ground & you know your new rear gear ratio, with those 2 figures go into the archives & find the correct # of teeth speedometer pinion gear you need & good used ones are for sale in the parts for sale section.
