I am to the point where I need to mock up the front of the engine. This is a 6.1 block I have a truck timing cover and a 6.1 waterpump. What in the heck do I use for a Alt and belt setup I have an ATI balancer any and all suggestions would be great and I am not stuck on using the stuff I have. I would like to use the radiator I have as it is new and the inlet/outlet are both on the Pass side. I only need a waterpump and ALt preferably a single wire alt.

your setup is much different than mine but I bought a SFI, I think TCI balancer for my hemi and couldn't use it without changing how I already had my alternator mounted. The new balancer did not stick out nearly as far as the stock one I'm using so it sits on a shelf now.

WOW nothing so what Alt will work with a truck timing cover and a 6.1 waterpump? Do I have too much of a mismatch? I don't mind buying what I need but I can't get anyone who has done this to give me some guidance and I would rather not buy 10 alternators to figure it out you know they are electrical items and not returnable to most parts stores

There are different hubs for ATI dampers, with different depths. That will make alot of difference to how things line up. http://www.atiracing.com/products/dampers/charts/damchrysler.htm

My set up is still early in layout, but I have a motor plate and remote electric water pump. With a ATI damper with no serp. pulley (smooth shell)with a ATI drive mandrel for pulleys.

I am using a 5.7 truck cover also but cut all the mounting stuff off it. Sorry I can't give you a combo for what you have. But if you are using a truck cover I think you would want all truck pulleys/drive parts.

Ok since I got no replies I took the weekend spend 2 days in the parts stores seeing what was what here is what I found.

1. A 6.1 water pump WILL NOT work on a 5.7 truck timing cover

2. The ATI balancer along with car water pumps and accessories are for a 6 rib belt ALL the truck stuff is 7 rib.

3. The truck cover requires a truck water pump however the upper hose is then on the drivers side but the alternator mounting option is better.

Well I can tell you that I have a car front cover, alt and water pump. I also have a 4.7 truck power steering pulley and it is all 6 rib same same.

biff we currently make 7 rib crank pulleys for our serpentine belt conversions. if you need one let me know. we may have to make it shorter or taller for you but its not a big deal.

we also made steffs hemi belt drive cover so if you need something else custom let me know.
