Just wondering how many of you index your spark plugs? I need to install a new set and am wondering if I'm wasting my time . The concept seems to be good but who knows?

Don't index. I used to years ago but found no performance gains. There is, however, a place for this if you find you're closing plug gaps. In this case a recessed tip plug or indexing with side gapping would be beneficial.

Depending on the type of plug you are running. Race plugs have the cut back ground strap, pretty much eliminates shrouding. Standard plugs with long strap will give you something, maybe. I used to do it , now I figure it's a waist of time. But others on here will say they gained a tenth.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Tried it back in the day lot of work and 0 gains threw them away and 0 loss so you decide? aluminum heads run a C59CX (C63 to C53) heat ranges I've run 61's and 59's on my indy heads using 59's now.

I run the C57CX with race fuel(gas) and the C59CX with alcohol, both have cut back straps and I see no need to index them.

Are cut back strap plugs in need of gaping? I mean can you gap them to the specifics needed without breaking the strap off the plug?

?

It is a waste of time for 98% of racers out there UNLESS you have a reason to do it. IE interference between plug and piston.

I Index mine, for clearance reasons.
Pretty easy to do,
I have a "indexing" wheel,,,,can do an entire set in 5-10 minutes on the work bench
