Dishman Dodge here in Portland on 82nd.
Darrell Davis wrote a number of books with VIN lists with original "shipped to" dealer numbers. "The 1965 Dodge HEMI-CHARGER Guide" is one of them.
Do you have the DEALER # for Dishman Dodge? Are they still in business?
Was he the original owner? Did he get $$$ help from Chrysler and/or the dealership?

Eastland Dodge, Inc. 5050 S. E. 82nd St. Portland, OR 97266 dealer # 58794
Is this the same address? Did this dealer become Dishman or the other way around?
What color was the '65 HEMI-CHARGER "Coronet" white/light tan? Did it have a name on it? When was it purchased?
Yes that is where the dealer was located. I am not entirely sure how long it has been closed but I think it has been at least 30 years?? I messed up the name in the original post. It was Eastland dodge not Dishman dodge which still exists The building is now a thrift store.
dealer # 58794 Eastland Dodge did not receive a '65 HEMI car. Did the dealership exist in the spring of '65 (I'm thinking - NO!)?
For additional help, you need to address the other questions asked. ..... or this will die a slow death in "lost & found".

The only '65 HEMI Dodges were the A990 "Race Cars", 2 door sedans w/aluminum front ends & bumpers, thin glass, 2 lightweight (van) tan bucket seats. Pretty much track ONLY race cars. 101 built. None of the "blue" cars were shipped to the west coast, but the Dodge City, Spokane, WA car was a "special order paint" car. All of the "company cars" were WHITE and shipped to dealers unknown (TO ME at this time). Does any of this sound like the car your friend's grandfather had? Here's one in tan.

There is a Racer site for old timers that raced in the old days, that has a list of most 1964-65 and 68 Hemi Built cars. I have not been on the site for 6 months or so and will have to look up the Link to it. The List tells who raced the cars new and other information about them. There is one other on moparts that might have plenty of information and I will try to get him to post but that has been next to impossible lately because someone shot their mouth off about what he posted and he has not posted since.

That sure looks like a '65 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door hardtop - NONE were factory built with a HEMI. & I wouldn't think it would be sold NEW at a Dodge dealership. How old is that pic?

I wish Chrysler had a data base to check old records
They do, if you have the VIN. & Darrell Davis put all the '65 HEMI car info (& a bunch of others) in a book.

Sorry, I have no vin, I already tried to get that from him but the car was sold in the late 80's He told me the car was a coronet but as soon as I saw the picture I thought it was a belvedere as well?? What was the biggest engine you could get in '65?? My buddy told me the car had an aluminum front end.

So I talked to my friend again and he said the Belvedere picture was for color reference only. He said it was a Coronet and I do believe that because a few years ago he gave me a used set of Iskenderian lifters still in the original box and they where from this car. His grandfathers handwriting says '65 Coronet. He sent me a picture of the car. The car sold by Walter Sabbe around 1989? and was sold to a guy Dennis. He raced it for a few years and then sold it to a guy in Eugene, Oregon named Carl Steinbeck who owned a muffler shop in Eugene named True Line alignment/automotive. Carl raced the car a few years at Portland International Raceway up until he reportedly died in 2012. Carl's kids possibly have possession of the car but they have had some trouble with the law and have been unavailable. My friend (reid) said very early on in the car's life, the 426 was yanked and a 440 was installed in it's place but his grandfather kept all the pieces including the engine to put it back to original. All these parts went to Carl when he bought the car. Apparently Carl put a different motor in the car or had the 440 rebuilt and the car had cooling system issues. The car was worked on a few times by Jackson Specialties in Hillsboro, Oregon. My friend last physically saw the car in 2012 at the Mopar Nationals in Woodburn, Oregon. After that he believes Carl's kids either sold the car or it is still in their possession.
