I haven't,but I witnessed it tonight. It really is an amazing feat! Just winning one class is unbelievably hard nowadays. Congrats to moparts member Qwkmopardan for blazing through pro, and super pro tonight. I had a blast watching...Congrats Dan.

Congrats to Dan!

I believe Bill McCarty won 3 classes in one night over at Terre Haute a couple years ago.

I saw that on Facebook( the only way Gateway seems to communicate) and was just stunned. Especially considering the trans( 1 mo ago?) blew up and injured him.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Did he do it with one car or two? It is nearly impossible to do it with one car because of the cool down, refuel and other items that take time between rounds. That being said, I think Pozest has won both Pro and Sportsman before. He lost the final of Sportsman last night on a double breakout by .001!

Both wins in the same car. And yes...he was very busy last night!

That's Bill. He used to have an old ragged looking 318 Scamp that he drove to the track all the time and was just deadly in it. I was at a big bucks race he was at with the Scamp. At 4 cars he was still in with 2 entries.

What do these guys dial, 12's and up? How big are the car counts for each class? I've been in races where semi fast cars ... 9 sec range .. double-up once in a while but not slow ones. You cannot compete in Sportsman with a Pro or Super Pro car here in the West. How do You get double entry in one class? Just buy two Tech Cards? I don't know if We can do that? How do You get back to Staging in time to run the same class? Even for 30-40 car S/Pro fields we're zip-zip done unless someone crashes or blows up which is rare?? I guess just make sure you have enough gas and the car doesn't move too much from limited cool down? You could also be screwed if you got stacked up at the Timeslip Shack behind the really fast cars being towed back with Quads/golf carts as well.

Awesome job. I have never won both classes the same night but have made both finals several times and came up one win short.

When I decided to chase running both classes full time I set the car up to handle it. Big aluminum rad, electric fan, electric water pump, lower compression engine (11.5/12-1) and big trans cooler with cooling fan. Alcohol or e85 helps a bunch with cooling and I have done it both with race gas and e85. Its all in the setup of the car.

Running Super Pro and Pro is not allowed at Bristol, but Pro(1/8 mile) and Sportsman(1/4 mile) is allowed. Like A J Casini, I run both classes with the same car (6.60 1/8, 10.60 1/4) and have made both finals in the same day (W & RU). I understand how difficult it is to do, fueling, battery charging (NO alt), loging previous pass, changing dial in each time, keeping the driver focused, making critical split second decisions ect, ect. It takes a car that is a work horse and a driver thats just as tough to even attempt it, much less be sucessful. Congrats to anyone that can do it!

A little different but I suppose the same, Texas Raceway in Kennedale used to run a Quick 32, one Saturday night I won Super Pro and Quick 32 in the same night, made 2 time trials and 11 rounds of eliminations... It was a madhouse, like was said above, battery, fuel, data logging. I was on methanol so the engine was staying cool but we had to put a portable fan on the trans, you could a cooked a meal on it...lol.

There is a guy at my track that has doubled up at least 2 times this year, possibly 3 times (I would have to check), winning Pro and Sportsman in an orange Mustang...one of the times he almost tripled winning Pro, Sportsman, and he runner-ed up on his motorcycle. He is also the current National Champ in Pro bike, Chad Isley.

Bill McCarty races out here too, running his black Warlock Dodge truck, also a very tough competitor.

Mr. Isley is a bad, bad man too. Does he still have that Hondamatic? I raced against that bike at Assumption in the late 70s- early '80s.

Our local car club had a track day few years ago and ran our own bracket. While we were signing up the track guy said if we wanted to run any other class we could. I ran sportsman and the car club and hot lapped 16 rounds and won both. Had one by run and only made one full pass all day, never changed the dial, 13.37 btw, cause I didn't have time.
