Sorry for all the questions today. A few google searches are coming up empty for blower motor replacements. I have my heater box taken apart and am working to clean, patch and coat it but my fan motor is dead and it rattles like it's full of BB's.

I have seen some used ones on Ebay that SAY they work but there has got to be a better way!

Just for fun have you tried NAPA?

The one NAPA has is for use with AC and it has a different mounting plate. They have another version but the shaft goes all the way through the motor.

That would be awesome if a local parts store had one that would fit!

Can't swap mounting plates?

Well, its that plus the fact that the wires are coming out of the wrong place. The wires on the E-Body exit the motor housing near the shaft side whereas the after-market ones come out the side that will be in the engine compartment. Without opening up the new motor, I would not know if there is a channel inside to re-route the wires.

Even if I removed the plate, the E-Body motor attaches to the heater box by two screws on the motor itself so it uses no plate. This means the motor would have no way to connect to the heater box.

Could I get a new motor and put it into the old motor case? Maybe
Could I drill holes in the heater box plate and install the new motor into it? Maybe
Could I re-route or hide the wires so it would not look obvious from the engine compartment that I used the wrong part? Maybe.

If these are the only choices I have then I may consider them but I was hoping someone sells or rebuilds these so I can put it back the way the factory left it.

Here is a comparison. I just don't think I could get this to work and have it look right.

My bet is there is a motor out there similar enough to work but I will have to figure it out. The requirements are some way to bolt the motor onto a plate, wires that exit on the same side of the shaft and a sealed housing to keep water, oil, etc out of the motor.

The one on the left is not right for my car. The one on the right is the original motor.

Still, I can MAKE the one on the left to work if I am willing to drill some holes in the heater box plate, dangle some wires in the engine compartment and cover the motor cover holes with something rigid

May have a winner here. Four Seasons/Trumark 35504 Blower Motor without Wheel was used on quite a few Mopars including a 1980 Dodge B-300. RockAuto.com let me blast through various Mopars until I found something close. Amazon had this for $27 and it will be here Sunday. If the holes line up, I will tape it off good and blast and coat it.

Will check in again next week in case anyone is interested.

That's the stuff.

I wouldn't be shy about busting out the grinder and knocking those ears off, mig up the gap left behind (if the case wants to open), and grind 'er flush.

It's not perfect but its close enough for now. The new one has a slightly different back but it is sealed and the wires are hidden underneath so they are not in-your-face.

This was the only steel-like paint I had but it's close enough for now. Once I get the box fully assembled, I will run the fan again to make sure it is running in the right direction!

Everything is bolted up and working again. I will connect some water lines up later. One thing I noticed is the older fan styles are weak aren't they? I mean it blows air and in the winter with windows closed I am sure it will do fine but it just doesn't compare to modern cars does it?

Either this motor is weak or I have just gotten spoiled with today's jet blowers.

Have not found an aftermarket one that works as well as the originals did. I am on my fourth one now in 20 years ni the Cuda
