Guy has a few old trucks for sale and I may try and make a good one out of a combo of parts but need to know what will work. One is a `74 stanadard cab, 8` bed, 318, 4 spd with plow, second one is a `76 or 7 club cab, 6 cyl with plow. I`d like to have the club cab with a v8 so trying to decide if it`s easier to swap cabs or swap drivetrains. Are the frames/ mounts the same for standard and club cabs? What would it take to swap a the 318 to the /6 frame or a big block to either the /6 or 318 truck?

Swapping drivetrains is do-able. The wheelbases and frame drops are different for a Clubcab.

I`m waiting on pics of the clubcab. I`m thinking using the clubcab chassis which should have disc brakes and swapping in the 318/4spd and transfer case (divorced NP205?) from the `74. I`ll also be getting a complete Meyers plow setup for it. It`ll be somewhat of a project but I think doable? Any problems with this idea?

That rust brown singlecab looks like a fulltime 4WD to me. But at least all the parts for the V8 swap would be there. You would also have a spare frontend and NP203. Full timer is great for a plow truck.

Owner called it a `75 but tag says 8/74 so it would still be a 1974 model.

What's the VIN say? Strange how so many people don't know what year of vehicles they have or are buying.

Those are 4.5 bolt circle wheels with no front hubs on it.

And get under the truck and check the condition of the frame and crossmembers before you lay down your hard earned money.
They love to rust through near the gas tank, and where the crossmembers attach to the side rails, especially towards the rear of the truck, and where the spring brackets are riveted to the frame rails (both ends of all 4 springs). Rusted frame pieces are hard to fix and expensive, money is well spent on a frame that is in the best condition possible. I know because this is the kind of work I do. Gene

Good advice but I do bodywork, have a good welder and work in a sheet metal shop so fixing rust is not a problem.
