Scored a super clean body 78 Ramcharger. Ive bought cars from out west before but this one has to been one of the best. Paint burnt off, interior toast, but the Body is totally RUST free. Now if I only had the time to restore. LOL It's a 440 truck with air !!.Anyone got some parts for these ? Where do I buy gaskets for doors , windows etc.

Nice! Rust free is always good.

Weatherstrip kit should be mostly the same since you have the full door fraames (for the doors) as equivalent year p/u trucks. I got my kit off ebay, it was a Precision brand, and did the job, though the fuzzies (cat whiskers) leave a little to be disired, but the '78 takes a different type, so may be fine. The 78 is straight, my 85 (81 up) have a curve at the back part of the opening, and the manufacturing of the curved part leaves a little room for improvement.

On the door seal, I am having a problem in that the replacement seals are making the doors hard to close completely, being differently made from the originals, which I believe will be the same as your 78, they glue to the pinchweld, and the replacements push on over the pinch weld, this is making things too snug, and the doors must be slammed hard ... still working on that.

There are other brands of seal kits ...

It takes gasoline to interest me.

Just an FYI on the door weather-strips we do sell the glue on ones still - http://www.dodgeconnection.com/catalog/item/6756240/5555222.htm

I have heard the same problems with them as well though - I would say maybe 1 in 100 customers have ended up having the "too tight" issue you are experiencing with both types of seals.

Nice acquisition by the way - congrats!

That is a Nice Buy!

The tightness sometimes has to to with sheetmetal adjustment and or the use of aftermarket sheetmetal Replacement of rockers & cab corners

Some forget that these trucks had good gaps but not all were good

In years past, I have moved the striker post out just a bit to aid in closing the doors with new seals. After about 6 months of use you can move the striker posts back towards the original location. The new seal will seal the doors with the striker moved out, move it just enough so you don't have to slam the door.

On the newer trucks, Mopar put a vent between the pinch weld and the outer door recess that is rubber covered. The vent allows the air to pass through the panel cover behind the door and go between the door and the jam, or the vent between the pinch weld and the outside is located in the door (also a rubber covered flap) with air access on the inside door panel under the interior panel. The door closes hard because the new seal traps too much air inside the truck cab. Even a door speaker allows enough air to pass the most trucks with door speakers don't have a problem. Those of you having issues closing your doors after the installation of the new seals have made the cab too air tight. Gene

I buy my window fuzzies from Restoration Specialties in Windber Penn. they fit!
Easiest way to get good door weatherstrips is to go pull some off a 92-93 at the wreckers.

Gene that's how I usually do it I have to because I use 94 up door seals & they're a little thicker
