finishing up building a 318 for my sons 74 charger, on the intake manifold do you use the end gaskets or just rtv? I have heard both. thanks for any advice.

Mockup the intake with side gaskets only & see how much gap you have then if the front/rear gaskets are slightly taller then no problem useing them. If they are too tall it tends to cause water port leaks on the dr/pass front after time. If you use RTV clean the surfaces squeaky clean with brake kleen or similar and remove the dowel(s) & make sure the dowels dont interfere with anything.

For what it's worth, my SB and my 426 Hemi intakes are both sealed with RTV front & back, and neither has so much as fogged the motor...sealed up tight.
Neither one needed to look 100% factory original, though.
With cork, I've learned to still place a blob of RTV at the corners.

I use RTV and my Son uses cork gaskets and both ways work great. I set my manifold on first to see how much RTV is needed.

I have a large stack of end gaskets,I'm waiting until they are worth big $$$ then I'll sell them. If someone wants a few dozen sets I'll take the actual shipping. If they don't sell soon I'll make earrings out of them.RTV all the way!
