Was watching a show and Stephen's Performance had the last A12 built. It was WM23M9A309967 and is on the registry. They said the drivetrain was numbers matching. The casting date looked like 5/22/69. It is a 4/26 SPD car. Seems like it was a late casting date on the block.

4/26 was what most of the A12 cars have on their fender tag. It was not when the car was built. If it is the last one built that block date would be right. All the other original parts on the car would also have late dates.

Pretty good case regarding SPD in the issue of MCG regarding the 'last Hemi Charger built...

Cars were not built sequentially. It's possible to know the car with the highest known VIN but it's impossible to know which car was built 'last'.

Yep.

The VIN correlates with non A12 SPDs of 707. There are, at least, three more SPDs higher than that for 69 LR. An A12, that no longer exists or hasn't shown up, could have been 'built' any one of those days.

Unless it is a pilot car, I really don't see the significance in first, middle or last built.

Rick.

The Bee the last time I looked into this a few years ago had the highest Serial number of all the A12s. Not sure if anymore have been found to be higher. Since these A12s are all over the place on build times no one knows if this is the last A12 built but you can claim anything on the internet and in a mopar magazine. Things I did ask was why were the A12 Bees built much later that the A12 Runners.

WM23M9A309967 body sequence # 311719
IMO these 4 (at a minimum) A12 Super Bee's bodies were assembled 1 day after the above Super Bee. (maybe originated in assembly would be more appropriate) NOTHING tells us when they were completed.
WM23M9A307000 body sequence # 312487
WM23M9A307001 body sequence # 312519
WM23M9A307005 body sequence # 312583
WM23M9A303037 body sequence # 312637
..... if these cars are wearing fender tags with authentic information.

Lynch Rd. 1969 assembled ~1,000 cars per day

Cause everybody knows the bees were always slower than the road runners!

The casting date on the Stephens car seems correct. I know of one Bee that has similar casting dates of May and June. You can slide the Stephen car into a guess build date if you have enough build information from the 1969 9A plant the A12s were all built at. But even then things happen and this is not an exact science from the information known. It is like a car I own that did not go into production until at least 9 days after it was scheduled to be built. The information comes from after looking at its fender tag build date and then its door sticker.

Anyone would like to know about this Bee Ask Ted Stephens at Carlisle.

An interesting conversation point? perhaps.
a significant bump in the value of the car in question? I think not.

This is just the way our North American Way of life has bought into crap. Its the oldest, biggest, first, last what ever. It is just a way to try to make what every you are talking about or doing a little better than the next. It is the 15 minutes of fame that people try to ad to what every they are talking about. The A12 Bee is likely the last one built that Stephens owns, but there no proof that can be amassed by collectors of mopar information or any information that has been found in Chrysler. I had told him this when he bought the A12 Bee that it was the highest number but that was all anyone could prove at that time.

It is no different what car was the last Hemi Car Built or what was the first Hemi Car Built. The pilot A12s are known, what one of the Pilot cars is considered the first A12 built.

What it boils down to is, do people really care. I got into this Hobby when it was not a Hobby. I did not buy a car because it was first or last built, I bought it for its potential to travel down the drag strip. This is one reason I never bought a Hemi E Body Convertible. Looking back if it was just about the money the Convertible was the better choice for value but my Challenger would easily out perform a Convertible and that is one of the reasons there are so few Hemi Convertibles built.

If enough people state that this A12 is the last A12 built it will become the last A12 built, no matter what the facts are.
