I would stay away from the A-body 1 3/4" skinny brake/drums.

I had a housing cut to A-body specs and used a set of Moser custom alloy axle with the large brake off set with 5 on 4.5 wbp. I used 11x2.5 brakes/drums off a 73 newport.

if you find a early A-body 8 3/4 with keyed axles/drums you can swap in a set of flanged axle like the Moser or DocDiff axle packages with large brakes. use a later model chunk. IIRC

have a larger housing cut to A-body specs and if you find a set of axles that are not tapperd you can have them cut resplined.

you can redrill the A-body sbp axle/drums

if some other axles are not out of the ?

a 94 jeep cherokee 8 1/4 just needs the perches welded on bottom of axle tub to go on top of the spring.

it shares the same 43" perch centers axle under spring and can be used to line up the new pads on the bottom of tube for axle over spring.

this should get you the same width as the A-body 8 3/4 in the trucks to tuck 12" rims in the fenders..double check BS on rim. with jeep axle

a C-body 8 3/4 is same width as a truck housing, needs perches moved.

B-Body & E-body will tuck 10s nicly also.

but the A-body with 12" running 29x15x15 is sweet, IMHO.

OK. What rearends do the later A's have? 43" spring centers? How wide? School me.

IIRC the later 72-74 A-body 8 3/4 has the larger brakes with the 4" on 5 wbp

a later 73-75 Duster/Dart A-body can have the 7 1/4 or 8 1/4 with the large brakes and 4.5" on 5 wbp all 43" perch centes. any 73-75 A-body 2 or 4 door cars.

the early B-body is close and can fit A-body with perches on 44" centers = spred the springs 1/2" each side but width is a tad wider for A-body.

but could be worked out in a truck ez-pz with back set on rims.

FYI.you could use a stock width truck axle with a 10" rim with 7.5 backset to tuck a 29x15x15 M/T in the fenders with some tubb work..looks like stock rim but has lots of tire in the fenders.

this is why i look for the 94 jeep 8 1/4 axles and looking for 1 with disc brakes next project i do.

I take it you want to tubb it for fattys with the A-body 8 3/4 correct? that will use a 12 wide 4.5 backset rim
