We run NGKs in 440 and 413.Mine are long reachs as I run alumimum heads and 12.5 domes. My kids 413 runs the short factory types.Mine have been in for at least 5 years and no problems driving on the street. His about 4 years.I used Autolite race plugs but never ran quite right. He ran Champions and they werent bad but NGKs seem better.Mancini has a cross reference for them.Mine at my discount thru Advanced were like 14 bucks for a set.Rocky

I just put in a new msd 6al and billet distributor w/ mag pick up in my 440 70RR. I have not yet timed in with a light and want to get the right plug and gap range in next Looking for feedback, heard pros & cons on the NGK's but not sure what would be the right choice. Only put 40 miles on since converting over.
Thanks
your MSD doesn't really effect the brand of plugs but you will be able to open the gap to at least .40. what coil are you using? with a performance coil you can up the gap to .45 and see how the engine likes it. as for brands, i've used everything from Champions, Accel, NGK, Autolite. i prefer to use something i can pick up at the local NAPA but that's just me.

I run NGK with the 6al. I have run a very cold plug with no fouling or misfires. I run a gap of .045 with the blaster e coil. I've had the gap as far as .055 but read somewhere that regular non race plugs should be only opened to a max of .050
just a quick hijack, Ademon, which e-coil, the high vibration one shaped like a stock coil? how is it compared to a Blaster2 (if you know)?

NGK & 040 or 045. You could sub in a NAPA Echlin MO3000 rotor with a .060" longer blade ($8 & change out the door) or you could make one. I know free air gap ain't the same as the gap in the cyl but it is a waste & ups the required voltage and reducing the gap helps with rotor phasing. EDIT For the heat range and in lieu of an LM1 AF meter for the jetting Wallace racing has excellent plug pics/info

What fuel, compression ratio and cylinder heads are you using? Those are what will determine which plug heat range and gap to use as well as the amount of total timing to use
My 493 with the same MSD setup as yours and RPM heads has Autolite 3923s set at .045.
