I need to take the float from the tank on the 1972 440 Dart.
Always reads empty so float is probably stuck down. Grounding the wire makes it read full.
Anyone know what the seal is like, since it is below the full tank level I want to know what I am am dealing with before I tear it apart.
Best would be an o-ring.

it's a round flat neoprene gasket about 1/4" wide that's under the outer perimeter of the flat circular part of the sending unit.

Mine was a flat gasket same as the new one I installed. No O ring on them. The float is probally rusted away or filled with gas.Ford vans yse a newer style that dosent fall apart like the old brass ones.I believe mid 60 used them.I pulled a few from them when I replace the pump units. The gasket might be avaliable from the dealer.I bought mine on line for less than 2 bucks each.Rocky
