So I just got my new engine put together and have a question on what intake would work good for my combo.
340 4 in scat crank
Crower 624/627 258/262 104 cl solid roller
11:1
Rhs/Indy 2.02/1.625 ported 285ish cfm@ 600
Pro systems 830 cfm carb
904 trans with 8 inch 5000 stall turbo action
8 3/4 w/410 gears
27x10.5 slicks
Well right now I have an edelbrock air gap and was thinking if I went with a victor intake if I would benefit from it? Thanks guys oh and its in a 3250 lb 76 dart.

76 dart 318 runs 12.9o @ 103 mph with 1.78 60ft.

I just made that very same switch from an airgap to a single plane victor on my 408 stroker and it was pretty much a wash.I lost about .03 on the sixty foot but gained a couple of MPH and the ET's are about the same.

With the combo you have, my first choice would be a weiand xcellerator, second the victor.

I made the switch from an Air-gap to a Victor on my stroker a few years ago. Initially I had the about the same result, I lost a few in the 60' and gained a few MPH...pretty much a wash. I left the Victor on and kept after the ideal tune on the carb. I was was able to get my 60' back to the same as with the Air-gap with pump cam and squirter tuning. After that the Victor was quicker by a substantial amount, because it was still making more MPH (more horse power).

For your motor, I would go with the Victor. My engine has a smaller cam, and less compression than your motor, and it likes the Victor, so I would think with a bigger cam you would definitely want to go that route.

For what its worth, my motor went 10.89 with the Air-gap, 10.79 with the Victor (a year later, with a lot of tuning)...so it won't hinder you that much if you stay with the Air-gap.

I would use the Victor..

I removed a x-cellator and put a victor on our 71 Dart 360 picked up 2.5mph and about a tenth.

I have had super good luck with the excellerator on several combo's, both 4 inch and stock stroke. And have tried victor, air gap, and excellerator.
Unless you had something way off when you had that excellerator on, it's pretty hard to pick up 2.5 mph with just an intake swap..... That is a ton of power difference..... A ton.
Still think excellerator best choice of single plane on the OP's smaller head.
I know my brothers 360 with Eddie heads loves that intake. Good torque and pulls to 7k.

I run a air gap victor 340 on my 340. It ran way better than a performer rpm did.

The rpm works a lot better then it should and you would be just fine using it if you don't want to spend the $.
But yes the Victor is ideal. I've used the m1 with roughly the same result as the Victor as well.

Okay from your response's Victor seems to be the way to go. Here another question. I street drive about 80% of the time so is the victor still the better choice?

Haha, well my car is the exact opposite. I'm about 80% race, 20% street. The only difference I saw between the 2 (after getting the carb tuned right for the Victor) was slightly better throttle response with the Air-gap...but honestly, if I had not run both intakes I would not be able to tell the difference (just splitting hairs).

Yes, Victor.

You have enuff cam, comp. and converter to work and I run open plenums on everything I`ve ever built but that`s just me.
