I have a 74 Challenger and the seat belt retractors seem to work only when they want too! Ill jump in the car with my wife or whomever and when I try to put the seat belt on it wont let let me pull the lap or shoulder belt out of the retractor. After a couple pulls, jiggles, and yanks it may allow me to pull it out the necessary 18" to put on the belt, this happens on both side and the shoulder and lap retractors. Finally got a day off work and im going to take off the covers and lube them up, hopefully this works.

I have a 74 also and have the same problem on the passenger side only. Takes forever to baby the thing to get it out far enough to connect.

If you find a fix let me know.
