Has anyone ever used a reman thermoquad from Holley ?

Yup. I have one on my duster.

Any problems with it ? would you buy another or go a different route next time ?

No probs. I'd do it again. It was a nice piece, got it from Summit.

I've bought a bunch of TQ's for parts and usually some screw is frozen or its corroded pretty bad. For what the reman cost it wasn't worth rebuilding one. Came with brass floats and the bowl was resurfaced too.

For my application it did need the seats replaced with larger ones, car was cutting out on the big end.

I bought one years ago and it had mismatched rods in it. The throttle shaft was loose on the replacement for that one.

I bought a different brand, maybe a Tomco for the same money that didn't require a core deposit.

Now I will just rebuild whatever I want. I collect them.

Where did you find the bigger seats? I didn't know they were available.

I have a strip kit I bought years ago. Never have had an engine that needed the bigger stuff.....yet!!

In the name of doing good business I won't knock Holley in public, and I don't know what your goals are (performance/restoration/etc.). I only do stock rebuilds to factory specs. If you desire brass or plastic floats, no problem, I offer you the choice. As far as performance goes, I have a stone stock 71 TQ on my own 426 cube small block, I chose it because it performed the best on the dyno in a direct comparison against some popular modified versions, they are pretty darn good carbs in stock form!

I can make these promises:

It will look original, run like new, and be unconditionally gauranteed for as long as you own it. EVERY aspect of my carbs are rebuilt or refreshed, no skipped steps or parts. All are test run on a running engine, rebushed throttle shafts bores, plating done in the correct colors (Holley does all in only one color BTW) and a proper factory appearing finish on the carb body (unlike most others that just media blast them). You will find no spray painted parts on any carb I offer! 3 week turn around time on average. I can supply some cores if you need one, just let me know the application.

Scott, Just looking at my options really. The car will be a stock appearing driver with a few upgrades. My plans were to make it FAST legal but Im not sure that will happen.

Scott is lieing..........box those plastic pieces of junk up and send them to me. I will see that they are properly and safely disposed of.

It definately is not a concours carb. It's a basic reman just like you would get if you went to the parts store. I was neck deep in aquiring parts and didn't have a good baseline TQ to fire the car up with. Price was right, I took a chance knowing I can send it right back to summit if it was garbage but I guess I got lucky.

I never knew Holley offered a reman TQ.....that's another source to remember.

I have a buddy that's trying to rebuild one I've been running for years. The throttle shafts have some play....not terrible, he says. It's biggest problem is the drip drip drip from the wells.

I am so sick of trying to mate a Holley or a Carterbrock up to a kickdown linkage I could scream. (and yes, I have all their little adapter doodads)

I set a TQ up there and everything just falls into place. My 360 ran better with the old TQ than the new Holley.....it's just a bear to start when hot because of the well leaks. Buddy says this is an easy fix and that he may even have a better thottle plate for it.

I'm all for factory parts. I can't wait to hit the track next summer with a fresh TQ and prove they didn't deserve the "Thermo-bog" nickname.

I don't sell carbs I just restore them, but I can usually find cores if you don't have one.

When using the TQ....should the fuel pressure be at 7psi like a Holley or do they like a different setting?

Same for all of them but I actually I don't reccomend fuel pressure being over 6lbs, 7 being the upper most limit.

I bought a few Holley rebuilt carberators. One never ran right. I brought it back to exchange it and the 2nd one they got for me looked like it was put together with whatever they could find on the floor. Every screw that holds it together was different, some of the ports looked like they were home made, some of them were loose, one of them was even bent shut. I told them to order another one because I wasnt taking it. That one was OK. I have another one that worked almost perfectly without having to do anything with it. None of them were thermoquads tho. I dont think Id get one if it didnt come with warrenty or it wasnt returnable.
