72-80 doors and fenders all interchange. The only difference I'm sure of is the very early doors didn't have the recess stamped around the door handle. Ma added it when a lot of doors cracked there. I think it was added sometime in either 74 or 75. It must have been important as it remained through 1993.

72 are 72 only internals. The slider for the window/regulator are metal. 73 or so they went to plastic. 72-74(?) the lock knob sits in the door. 75(?) up Theres a grommet (noise/rattle reduction?) 72-74/75(?) door panels screw on. 76(?) and up, they pop on That's all I can think of right now besides the indent around the handle. Oh, seems 76/77 the key holes seemed just a hair smaller(?) All statements based on personal observation/experiences and YMMV

1972 doors have their own window regulator. All 72-77 doors have the door lock button thru the metal. 78-80 doors use the plastic grommet around the door lock button. 72-74 doors will only accept the screws on SMC door panels and the sheetmetal door panels. In 1975 the plastic clipped on door panels were introduced. In 1976 the door handle recess was introduced. Early doors had a bolt in window regulator. Later doors used rivets. 1975 doors are unique. The only year to use plastic clip on panels but no door handle recess. 1978-80 door use the push button vent window lock.
As a quick spotters guide: 72-74 doors are mostly the same but will only take screw on door panels 1975 doors will take any door panel and have no button grommet and no door handle recess 1976-77 doors have the recess and flip up vent lock, no lock button grommet. 78-80 doors have the recess, push button vent lock and lock button grommet.
Fenders have many variations too but all years will physically fit. ( antenna holes, and holes for items on the inner being the main differences

The vent window changed with the pushbutton lock in 1978, and then in the mid 80's the glass all got thinner. Not sure when the thinner glass came in but I think about 87. However it will all interchange between all doors if you use the related parts.
