The item you have marked, is the rear band pivot pin. It is sealed by an "O" ring (2 on some pins). Pressing it further into the case will not stop a leak. The "O" ring is far enough inside the trans, that it should not leak, even if the pin is against the tail shaft housing tab. The tab on the tail shaft housing is there to retain the pin. Its a simple procedure to replace the "O" ring(s).

You can try to remove all the tail housing bolts out, tap the tail housing loose(if you are lucky the gasket won't tear) You dont need to remove the tail housing, only rotate it out of the way of the pin. There is a threaded hole that you can use to pull the pin. If you pull it all the way out, you will need to go back into the pan, because the band arm will fall out. If you only pull the pin far enough to get at the o ring, you should be ok.

No threaded hole in most, gotta push the pin out from inside.
The RTV on the outside usually works if the fluid doesn't continue to leak as you're applying the RTV...drain pan half way or jack the rear of the car real high.
