look on the DR front of the block at the top right below the head gasket junction & there'll be a very small stamped number "318 or 360". You might have to wire brush it to make it out. There's also large casting numbers on one side of the block (I forget which side) that'll have either 318 or 360 unmistakeably in the sequence (might be DR side). EDIT not sure now many 318's are cast cranks but you cant mistake the 360 offset weight dampener

Would a 77 mdl. mtr. home have a 318 or a 360? And how can you tell the difference? All I could see was the casting date.
95% sure it'll be a 360, I have never seen a 318 in a motorhome. It would be a real pig if it was.
Motorhome 360s have exhaust valve rotators to help the exhaust valves cool and stay clean. Motorhome engines are worked hard and usually have cracked heads and exhaust manifolds from the heat and hard work they had to endure.
Not real desirable to me. I've rebuilt 2 360s, both had 2 barrels, one in a motorhome and another in a HD work van.

I find motor homes in the junkyard all the time. I have seen both 318's and 360's. as said above if it has the big 2bbl. it will be a 360 and the # will be cats into the drivers side of the block. $600 is a bit much for a motor and trans(318 or 360)
I figured maybe $300 to $350 for the mtr. and trans. It had 65000 showing but he wanted to sell it all together. It looked to be a large Holley two barrel carb. Somebody had installed a set of hedman headers. Didn't smoke and fired right up.
