Hey, which is the preferred place for water temp? In the head or manifold and if in the head would it show a higher temp reading than the manifold.Thanks

The head will show higher being its closer to the source
but as a general temp you want it prior to the ratiator
and prior to the stat if running one

Thanks Mr P. I have no thermostat but was taking the temp from the head and was going to change it to the manifold

i have mine on the intake of the water pump so i can see how much my engine is cooling down when i have the fan running. in the head it will register the hottest temp due to that being the last path of the coolant unless you have a reverse flow.
