...have you ever been on NON-sticky REAL street tires? I mean BFG T/A's, etc. What was your car/combo??

Back in the day, we used Pos-A-Traction tires that were 100% legal and into the low-to-mid 12's with a talented throttle foot, until we "stepped up" to McReary dirt track tires...LOL.

Not to exclude them, but we already know how fast the FAST guys are going to Polyglass stuff. Just wondered about the "rest of us".

In the 73 Duster, we entered Mopar Magic last September with BFG Radial T/A's.. no matter what tire pressure and what burn out we did.. We still had to launch in 2nd gear and it still roasted the tires...

So 11.teens with MT's.. 12 something with BFG

Up until a couple of years ago, our local track ran some KOS races on Friday nights. One class was street tire class which meant 275/60 STREET tires. Not drag radials or DOT stuff, just street radials.

The Cuda would pull 1.60 60s and run 7.10-7.20 @ 103 +/-. Try as I might, I could never quite crack the 6.0s on those tires. But it run 6.89 on drag radials.

3,450lb 70 Cuda, 499", 727, 3.91s and Cal-Tracs. Got class champion in 09 and 10.

I've been 11.80's @ 122 in two different cars and both were 4-speeds...one was a stock stroke 440 Six Pack with ported 906's and exhaust manifolds in a 3,850lb race weight '69 A12 Bee and the other was a 416" 340 with Edelbrock heads and headers in a '68 Dart...

I got a 1.9 sixty foot on real (rock hard) street radials with my Duster. I was very happy with that sixty foot as the car was only running high 13's at the time.

Does 13:00 at 108 mph with BFG spinning them all the way down the track count?

Went 13.19 @ 108.5, 2.10 60 ft in the 74 challenger with 275/60/15 BFG T/A's way back when at Carlsbad.. 440 ci, 902 heads, 484 purple shaft and 770cfm vac secondary carb. I think I could spin the tires a lot longer and get a slower 60 ft now with the e-heads and 6-pack on there.

69 RR w/493 6 pack. It would run consistant 11.80's with 1.84 60 foot. 275-60-15 Eagle GT-2's. I really liked the Goodyear Eagle GT-2 tires for a street car, they were far superior to the BFG- T/A.

71 Cuda that had a very mild 440, 3.23 gears, stock wore out suspension and Futura Super Sport 245's on the rear.

Car had a horrible 60 ft. and ran 13.57 @ 104 mph.

Great manners and could drive it anywhere.

My son had a 65 Belvedere. Stock converter, 3.91 with 255x60 radial T/A's. If you left just above idle it would hook anywhere and cut .010-.020 lights. 12.90@109

"have you ever been on NON-sticky REAL street tires? I mean BFG T/A's, etc."

I understand where you are coming from with this question, but if the tire is 100% street legal and sticky, why do you exclude them?

I went 11.80 in my Mercedes!

My 200 Dakota went 13.9's.

Just worthless bench racing. Subject came up comparing what we have available today that we didn't have back then (early-mid 80's). Naturally sticky DOT tires were the first thing mentioned!

It also made us list who we could remember that ran good on what tires.

At the time the three of us had -

Me: 440 72 Duster that managed to squeak out 12.70's on L60 Pos-A-Tracs

Other guy: 396 67 Scumaro - 12.70's on N50 Pos-A-Tracs

Other guy #2: Small block 71 Vega - 12.20's on L60 Pos-A-Tracs

In more modern times (mid 90's) a good friend went 13.43 @ 110 on Dunlop's in a 360 A body spinning through low and most of 2nd!

In 1994 I run 12.16/116.5 with 205/75/15 BF Goodrich lifesaver white wall radials in my BB four door A-body, the best 60 ft was 1.93 and could consistently run 12.2's with 3.23 gears. The engine had a carb shop 3310 vacuum carb, so it was pretty "soft". 10+ years later I tried the very same tires again with the same car, gear ratio etc, this time maybe 200+ hp more. Made three runs but there wasn't any sence. The dominator was way too aggressive. Run best of 11.60/132 with the 60 ft 2 seconds flat.
