My son's '01 Wrangler cruise control quit working yesterday. When he first starts it and turns on the cruise contron the light comes on, but only stays on for about 5 to 30 seconds and the cruise can not be tuened on again unless he turns the Jeep off and restarts it. He disconnected the battery to reset the PCM, it then worked for about 3 minutes and is now back to the 5-30 second cycle. The system is holding vacuum. He's getting a P1595 code "speed control solenoid circuit. An open or shorted condition detected in either of the speed control vacuum or vent solenoid control circuits". Any ideas where to start looking?

When the PCM detects that code it will shut the cruise control down. That code is the solenoids in the cruise servo. They are fed voltage and grounded thru the PCM when comanded to. Its much easier to test and check with the wireing book but you can make sure you have voltage to the servo and then check the ohms and continuity of the three solenoids in the servo. It may be the servo or the wireing or PCM. I dont remember the ohms but check all three and I believe they are all the same. Course there is much more to make the cruise not work but with that code it sounds like one of the solenoids or wireing and lastly it could even be the PCM. Ron
