Is there such a thing? I am running 2 chamber Flows on my Barracuda right now, and to put it lightly...they suck. I am so sick of Flowmasters. I am looking for a quiet muffler that is available in 2.5" I understand it wont sound stock simply because of how much air Im moving through the pipes, but there has to be something. Any suggestions?

The most quiet I've found are the Dynomax large body turbos (PN17748 & 17749) that Patrick mentioned. I believe the 17749 is the 2.5" version.

Another thing that helps imo is tail pipes. Without tail pipes the muffs resonate and drive you nuts.

I don't think they exist...I've had Quiet Flows and Imco Turbos.

Well thats good to know. I actually happen to have a brand new 2.5" Dynomax Super Turbo that someone gave me a while back. I never wanted to use it because I didnt know what they sounded like. Im going to buy one to match it and try them out. I figured by looking at it, the long 20" case might be kinda quiet (thats good). Thanks again for everyones input!

On my 68 Coronet I just use stock passenger car
mufflers. They sound great and have that back in the day sound. The lengths on them are about 18" . I believe the ones I have are Maremount. The performance is good too. My exhaust is 2". Check them out for 2.5".
The good thing about them is that they last a long time. Going on 5 years and still good.
I had a set previously that lasted 13 years.
Got tired of replacing turbos every 2-3 years because they would rot out. That's why I went with regular muffler.

yes tailpipes with mandrel bends & an additional resonator or glasspack downstream on each side is a big help if you can fit it.

3" dynomax super turbos with a 3 1?2 to 3" X-pipe here....No it's not exactly quiet but it is a 12:1 517 inch roller motor....for my taste (and neighborhood) something like a flowmaster or an ultraflow would be way too loud fro how and where I drive most of the time. 2 1/2" by nature will be quieter.

Yeah Im running tailpipes all the way to the bumper. Its got a little rumble to it. Its a 11.4:1 360, Eddy heads, 292/509...etc. So it moves a little air though the pipes

Good Evening

Not wanting to hijack your thread, but I have a similer question.
I'm looking to replace the exhaust on the wifes 71 Charger Superbee (383 single 4bbl). The motor ia all stock. I was looking at a set of Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flow (2.5), now I'm not so sure. (The car will have dual pipes to the rear and either an 'X' or 'H' pipe).
The plans for the car are for cruising, and, since it is the wifes' car, a quiet muffler is the only option.
Any thoughts on mufflers/resonators?
Thanks to all who respond amd Merry Christmas.

The six inch diameter round DynoMax UltraFlo mufflers have no more restriction than a resonator, but have greatly added sound reduction.

You can buy the stainless steel UltraFlo's in either
16 inch,
24 inch long or
and "RV" style 36 inch long.

36 inch long as the main muffler
and a 16 inch long as the exhaust tip
makes for a quiet system
that has a very low deep tone

Well without going into a long discussion of comparisons I can say I've tried all of the above mentioned mufflers and can say that I believe my Borla Pro XS is the quietest I've heard. I bought them and installed them tti headers,3" x pipe to the mufflers and 2.5" tailpipe and the result was unintentionally dissapointing it was so quiet. It was quiet enough to make me think about a trip back to the muffler shop to change them out but I've grown to love em since. They could pass for a stocker any day- only the cam lope gives it away as being something else.

If you want quiet go with the Maremonts.
