I started a post on this jeep a few weeks ago, and am finally getting back to it. I put in a cam/crankshaft sensor because the old one read bad (over 17 ohms resistance), but it still has no spark. I was just driving the truck normal when it died. any ideas?

Check the resistor on the driver side fender, looks just like a ballast resistor.

That's in the fuel pump circuit on a '92 Jeep. If it was bad, it would not cause a no spark condition.

Check the coil.

coil tested good with ohmeter. still no spark. I had to change the distributor because the customer tried fixing this jeep himself and twisted the dist. cap screws off. maybe I bought a bad dist. on ebay. the guy said the motor ran that he pulled it out of. I suppose I should figure out how to test the distributor itself next. thanks.

you would not need to replace the whole distributor again most likely; just the dist pick up plate/some call it a "hall effect plate" or cam sensor.
