Just a thought,
..i have always wondered why you start at the furthest wheel when bleeding brakes. If the building is on fire i'm sure we'll all head for the nearest exit.
..so why move any air all the way to the farthest outlet...what am i missing?

You are trying to get the air out of the system. If you tried bleeding the closer wheels first, it could push the air toward the wheels further away rather than toward the bleeder you are working on. If the furthest cylinders are bled of air and only have brake fluid in them, air cannot get through.
