All my books are for the 727. How do you adjust the bands on a 904? Is it tighten to 6 ft lbs and then back off 2 turns? It's in a 1970 Dart 318 ci. Thanks for the help.

If you have a double wrap rear band..which all the V8 904 have...and i could be wrong...the adjustment is 4 turns..tighten 72 inch lbs..or snug...

anyway...i got 4 904s for bracket racing..and they are adjusted 4 turns with double wrap bands.

I had trouble getting to 72 in lbs on my last one (I was torquing more than I knew I should be doing & still could not reach 72 in lbs) so since I had the pan off I adjusted the clearance between both levers (kickdown/low and reverse) and the round flat button in the center of the pistons that the levers contacts per advice from Kunkel cuz that clearance is the bottom line that you want right

Used a 5/16 rod like a feeler gauge on the front one and 1/4 on the rear & the 1/4" ain't critical (Per Kunkel)
